Recreational Riding
Cheryl Sabin:
Cheryl's love and appreciation for horses started when her Uncle introduced her to Smokey, his Quarter horse gelding, at the age of 6 months. From the time he put her on Smokey's back it began a love that has never faltered. Raised in Southern California where horse properties are hard to come by, she started her riding career at Pickwick Stables in Burbank. Her first horse was a mare named Bunny that she rescued and transformed into an excellent competitor in Jumping and Hunter classes. Their favorite past-time was riding in Griffith Park up to the Observatory where they shared a hot dog and coke (yes, Bunny too!). Cheryl's riding career included Hunter/Jumper, Equitation, Endurance and Western working classes.
Her first ranch was in Sonoma, California (before it became wine country). During her professional career as a Technology Sales and Marketing executive she was promoted and transferred several times which required constant moves so horses of her own were not an option. The moves took her to places across the United States and a 4-year assignment in England.
Cheryl moved to Kentucky in late 2007 to open up a Bed and Breakfast, Bluegrass Country Estate, in Louisville's bedroom community LaGrange in the L'Esprit horse development. She located here to renew the love she always had for horses and as she calls it '"Come Home" although she had never lived in Kentucky before.
In addition to running the Inn, Cheryl does Interior Design, is a Mary Kaye Consultant and is just about to embark on a new career in real estate, specializing in horse properties. She is quoted as saying '"Staying busy keeps you young and caring for people and animals keep you happy!"
