Recreational Riding
Dorthy and Bill Diggins:
We love trail riding and camping. We've had our Kentucky Mountain horses for about 8 years now. We got into horses after purchasing and caring for my daughter's thoroughbred mare for a number of years while she showed in hunter/jumper classes.
We moved to Kentucky from the east coast after visiting my husband's cousin and her farm in Georgetown a number of times. We fell in love with Kentucky. The fact that it was such a horse friendly state with many places to ride made it that more appealing. We wanted to have our horses on our own property so we bought a small farm in Scott County. We've met many wonderful people since moving here and have a special group of friends who ride and camp with us.
Every day when I drive to work at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, I pass some of the most beautiful horse farms I've ever seen. My most favorite vision is driving down Rt. 922 towards Lexington on a summer morning with the sun coming up, the mist still lingering on the grass and the silhouette of horses grazing in a pasture. Such a sight brings pure joy to my soul. We are so blessed to be living in this beautiful state.
